Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, TELUS Garden is perhaps the most anticipated real estate development in the city's recent history. We are delighted that the Executive Chair of TELUSDarren Entwistle, has invited Friends & Company to hold the very first community event in what will soon become the world headquarters for TELUS. TELUS has proudly been the Presenting Sponsor of Friends & Company since our inception. As always, this event will benefit the anti-bullying and gay-straight alliance work of Out in Schools.

TELUS Garden is a stunning mixed use commercial / residential complex that covers en entire city block on Georgia Street between Seymour and Richards and on Richards Street between Georgia and Robson. The development comprises over a million total usable square feet and construction costs are estimated at $750 million. It will bear the coveted LEED Platinum certification for enviornmental sustainability. It is scheduled for completion in September 2015.

Our host and speaker will be TELUS Executive Chair, Darren Entwistle.Darren will share insights with us about how being leaders and innovators in the areas of workplace diversity and inclusion have given TELUS an edge in a highly competitive market.

Darren is one of Canada's highest profile business leaders. He first joined TELUS in 2000 as President and CEO, and until his progression to Executive Chair in May 2014, he was the longest-serving CEO amongst global incumbent telecom companies. Under Darren's leadership, TELUS has evolved from a regional telephone company serving Western Canada into a national data and wireless leader. Notably, since the beginning of 2000, TELUS is the global leader amongst all telecom service providers with a total shareholder return of 304%, outpacing the number two incumbent by 95%. Darren holds a BA (Honours) from Concordia University, an MBA in Finance from McGill, and a Network Engineering Diploma from the University of Toronto. /outinschools.jpgOn behalf of Out in Schools, we would like to thank you for your support. Thank you to everyone who attended any of our sold out events to date! Together, we raised tens of thousands of dollars for Out in Schools, money that directly enables Out in Schools facilitators to reach students all over BC. On top of this, our corporate sponsors and community partners have given many tens of thousands more to Out in Schools at Friends & Company events throughout the year. All of this is undeniable proof that together, we can make a difference for young LGBTQ people in our communities. Thank you.
