It's a new year and we have lots of exciting new things to share with you! New speakers, new venues, and new opportunities for LGBTQ and LGBTQ-friendly people to network! As always, all of our events support the essential anti-bullying and teen suicide prevention work of Out in Schools.
Please join us on Friday, February 22, for our first event in 2013. We are thrilled to welcome Gastown's sexy and stylish new dining hotspot, Secret Location, as our newest sponsor and the venue for our February luncheon!
Your ticket includes a spectacular 3-course menu, specially selected and prepared for us by the Secret Location culinary team, lots of fabulous door prizes (including, as always, the latest smartphone from our friends at TELUS), a chance to participate in a 50/50 draw benefiting Out in Schools and, of course, a great chance to connect with old contacts and meet new ones!
Our special guests will be Vancouver Pride Society Chair, Tim Richards, and General Manager, Ray Lam, who will talk to us about some exciting changes that we can expect to see at this year's Pride celebrations and the important synergies that exist between the LGBTQ business community and Pride. You won't want to miss this!
Tickets are $30 each, plus HST and a small ticket processing fee that is charged by our ticket service provider. Registration starts at 12:30 and lunch starts at 1:00, sharp. The event wraps up around 3:00. We've received feedback from many of you asking that we provide more time for networking at our luncheons, so we have scheduled more time for just that!
We would like to thank our generous sponsors, without whom our events would not be possible. Please take a moment to check them out! And please be sure to stay tuned for more upcoming events, including our April 19 luncheon, where we will hear from our very special guest, Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson!
On behalf of Out in Schools, we would like to thank you for your support. Thank you to everyone who attended any of our eleven sold out events in 2012. Together, we raised almost $20,000 for Out in Schools, money that directly enables Out in Schools facilitators to reach students all over BC. On top of this, our corporate sponsors and community partners gave an additional $30,000 to Out in Schools at Friends & Company events throughout the year. All of this is undeniable proof that together, we can make a difference for young LGBTQ people in our communities. Thank you.
On a serious note: Friends & Company and our sponsors remind you to please drink responsibly and plan a safe ride home. Please don't drink and drive. Thank you.
