Please join us for our second event of 2015, our April Long Weekend Kickoff Mingler! Thanks to your generous support, this will be our twenty-ninth event to date! As always, funds raised will directly benefit the important anti-bullying and gay-straight alliance work of Out in Schools.
The venue for this event will be our long time friend and sponsor, Vancouver's premier boutique lounge, 1181.
Your ticket includes complimentary vodka drinks and beer thanks to our generous sponsors at Absolut and Kronenbourg 1664. Open bar for Absolut vodka beverages, Kronenbourg 1664 beer, and soft drinks will be available from 7:00 to 9:00, after which the doors will open to the public and service will switch to a cash bar.
Delicious canapes will be served and every guest will have a free chance to enter to win the latest smartphone or tablet from our friends at TELUS, and a chance to participate in a silent auction consisting of thousands of dollars worth of prizes, donated by generous supporters.
This event will be hosted by none other than our very own resident Friends & Company emcee, Vancouver's best-known drag queen, the world class Joan-E. The talent behind Joan-E is Robert Kaiser, a respected long time fixture in Vancouver's LGBTQ corporate, philanthropic and entertainment communities. He is a two-time recipient of medals from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, having been awarded the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002 for his work in community service and again in 2012 when he received the Queen's Diamond Jubilee medal. Robert serves as Director of LGBTQA Special Initiatives at TELUS, a role officially carried out both as Robert and Joan-E.
We are pleased to offer tickets for just $25 each, including fees and taxes! Since this will be a private event that is expected to sell out, you must have a ticket in adavnce in order to attend.
We would like to thank our generous sponsors, without whom our events would not be possible. Please take a moment to check them out! And please be sure to stay tuned for more upcoming events!
On behalf of Out in Schools, we would like to thank you for your support. Thank you to everyone who attended any of our sold out events to date! Together, we raised tens of thousands of dollars for Out in Schools, money that directly enables Out in Schools facilitators to reach students all over BC. On top of this, our corporate sponsors and community partners have given many tens of thousands more to Out in Schools at Friends & Company events throughout the year. All of this is undeniable proof that together, we can make a difference for young LGBTQ people in our communities. Thank you.
On a serious note: Friends & Company, Out in Schools and our sponsors remind you to please drink responsibly and plan a safe ride home. Please don't drink and drive. Thank you.
